Waist Hooping

Level Novice
Prerequisites None
Preferred Hoop 3/4"
L (35"-40")
Heavy Weight (PVC)

Waist hooping is the very first trick you’ll have to learn if you want to become a hooper. At First it seems hard, but once you get the motion you can’t stop hooping!

Grab your Hula Hoop with both hands and place it against your back. Try to place one foot slightly in front of the other. Then, shift your weight forward and backward in a steady rhythm. Pay attention to your belly and make sure it hits the hoop each time it’s in front of you.

We recommend beginners to use a large & heavy hoop as mentioned above. As you progress you should switch to a lighter hoop which will allow you to try more complex tricks in a faster motion.
